In yet another incident, a Sita Air Dornier aircraft
met with an accident while landing at the Simikot airport in Humla early today morning
due to unfavourable weather.
All seven, including
five passengers and two crew members — Captain Kiran Bhattarai and Co-pilot
Deepak Shah — on board the 9HAHB aircraft are unhurt.
However, both the wings and body of the aircraft have been damaged in the accident. The aircraft that had taken off from Nepalgunj airport at 6:25 morning, landed at Simikot airport at 7:14 am.
According to
preliminary reports, the mishap occurred as the aircraft tilted towards left
during ‘hard landing’ meaning an uncontrolled or rough landing of an aircraft,
usually resulting in damage. However, both the wings and body of the aircraft have been damaged in the accident. The aircraft that had taken off from Nepalgunj airport at 6:25 morning, landed at Simikot airport at 7:14 am.
Earlier on May 16, a NAC twin otter aircraft had crash landed at the Jomsom airport and skidded airstrip to the Kali Gandagi river bank.
