Deposit mobilisation of
banks and financial institutions — especially of commercial banks — has slowed
down.
Deposit mobilisation of
banks and financial institutions increased by 8.4 per cent (Rs 85.44 billion)
in the nine months of the current fiscal year 2012-13, against an increase of
13.5 per cent (Rs 110.73 billion) in the same period of last fiscal year,
according to the central bank.
"The deposit
mobilisation of commercial banks, development banks and finance companies
increased by 7.5 per cent, 10.9 per cent and 7.3 per cent, respectively, as
compared to 15.8 per cent, 10.8 per cent and 1.6 per cent, respectively, in the
same period of last fiscal year," it said, adding that deposit
mobilisation of banks and financial institutions has increased by 17.5 per cent
(Rs 163.30 billion) on a year-on-year basis amounting to Rs 1097.26 billion as
of mid-April.
