Finance minister seeks result oriented policies

Finance minister Barshaman Pun directed officials at the ministry to be objective and result-oriented while formulating public policies and programmes.
In the meeting of Development Problem Solution Committee today, he said that the government has failed to review the progress of projects in which the government had failed to meet the expenditure target.
He also asked ministry officials to implement small projects more effectively and analyse the utility of projects before launching them.
In the meeting, chief economic advisor Shree Ram Paudel opined that the government should keep a qualitative target and should evaluate its achievement to check whether the targets have been met or not. "It is the need of the hour to make public loan management more effective," he said.
Finance secretary Krishna Hari Baskota emphasised on the need to complete priority one projects in a more effective manner. "Finance Ministry should be the trailblazer in terms of performance and effectiveness," he said. He also urged the employees to correct the weaknesses faced in the previous years.
All departments and divisions should develop a yearly book to follow the timeline of the concerned projects, he said.
In the meeting, spokesperson at the ministry Rajan Khanal had presented the status of implementation of priority one and two projects under the Finance Ministry.
