Nepal-India Trade expo planned on February 13-22



Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), is going to organize Nepal-India Trade Expo 2014 on February 13-22 in Birgunj.
The 10-day expo is scheduled to be inaugurated by the President Ram Baran Yadav.
Aimed at increasing international trade particularly with India and South Asian neighbours, the exhibition will display a wide range of products from Nepal, India and the SAARC region, according to the organisers. "The expo will see more than 200 stalls with products and services from tourism, agriculture, small scale enterprises and financial institutions and other industries, apart from cultural shows, food festival and entertainment shows."
President of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ashok Kumar Vaidya claimed that the expo will help promote domestic products and boost exports to the southern neighbour that is the country's largest trade partner.
The main objective of the fair is to inform the public about products and services to create a platform for potential investors, manufacturers, distributors and exporters," he said, adding that such trade expos will not only increase business activities but also help increase the pace of economic activities.
"The expo will help expand business," according to FNCCI president Suraj Vaidya. "Birgunj has a lot of potential for economic development," he said, adding that it has to be given due role for business and economic activities expansion.
