Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with Federation
of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), is going to organize Nepal-India
Trade Expo 2014 on February 13-22 in Birgunj.
The 10-day expo is scheduled to be inaugurated by the President
Ram Baran Yadav.
Aimed at increasing international trade particularly with India
and South Asian neighbours, the exhibition will display a wide range of
products from Nepal, India and the SAARC region, according to the organisers.
"The expo will see more than 200 stalls with products and services from tourism,
agriculture, small scale enterprises and financial institutions and other
industries, apart from cultural shows, food festival and entertainment shows."
President of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ashok Kumar
Vaidya claimed that the expo will help promote domestic products and boost exports
to the southern neighbour that is the country's largest trade partner.
The main objective of the fair is to inform the public about
products and services to create a platform for potential investors,
manufacturers, distributors and exporters," he said, adding that such trade
expos will not only increase business activities but also help increase the
pace of economic activities.
"The expo will help
expand business," according to FNCCI president Suraj Vaidya. "Birgunj
has a lot of potential for economic development," he said, adding that it
has to be given due role for business and economic activities expansion.
