Great Himalayan Trail tops chart of adventures for 2014

The World Expeditions by the CNW Group has placed the Great Himalaya Trail as the first less travelled path that could be more adventurous for the next year.
"Be amongst the few, who have trekked the Nepal's Great Himalaya Trail in one continuous 152-day trek," it writes, adding that along the 1,700-km trail, one will encounter some of the wildest and most remote mountain environments imaginable.
Likewise, Great Patagonian Traverse-the North to South is the second most adventurous one on foot and at times by boat, it said, asking to be among the first to discover the rarely used pass between the shores of Lago O' Higgins (Chile) and Laguna del Desierto (Argentina).
Bhutan's Snowman Trek is also one of the world's most challenging treks that has been undertaken by only a handful of trekkers each season, followed by Dominica - Trek the Waitukubuli Trail. "The Waitukubuli National Trail in Dominica is the longest walking trail in the Caribbean crossing the entire island," it said, adding that along the way, hikers encounter a varied canvas of contrasting landscapes.
John Muir Trail is the fifth in the list. "Celebrate the centennial anniversary of the John Muir Trust hiking the Sierra Nevada trail, it covers some of the most pristine and dramatic backcountry in North America," it writes.
