Nepse index jumps by 70 points, two dozen companies hit positive circuit

 Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index today also continued its bullish rally to post another historic high of 2,071.02 points today by gaining a massive 70.62 points.

Some 25 companies technically hit the 10 per cent positive circuit today to push the benchmark Nepse index historically up.

The Nepse index closed at historic high with some 15,564,427 shares being traded through 61,636 transactions of 201 scrips that brought the total market turnover to a little over Rs 7.46 billion.

As interest rates still on the lower side, investments in the share market have continued to surge, though the economy is slowing down due to coronavirus pandemic. 

Of the total 12 sub-indices, ‘0thers’ sub-index gained the highest by 8.4 per cent, microfinance followed with 7.95 per cent gain, and manufacturing and Processing segment climbed by 6.67 per cent. Likewise, hydropower, life insurance and hotels sub-indices also performed better, whereas the trading sub-index lost modestly by 0.71 per cent today.

Unilever Nepal Limited (UNL) lost the most by 5.19 per cent, whereas Nepal Telecom and Nepal Life Insurance Company were the most actively traded shares of the day with turnovers of Rs 407 million and Rs 310 million. Likewise, Nabil Bank and Himalayan Distillery registered turnovers of Rs 232 million and Rs 225 million.
