NAC to auction second Boeing 757 aircraft

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has decided to auction its Boeing 757 aircraft.
The board meeting of the NAC – on March 15 – took the decision to auction the remaining one Boeing 757 aircraft that has been grounded for a long for maintenance, according to a board member.
Though, the NAC has earlier planned to repair and operate the aircraft, the maintenance cost turned out to be expensive, he said, adding that the board is asking for suggestion with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA). "After the ministry's approval, we will sell the aircraft like another one it had auctioned a year ago."
Saying that it has not received any request, the ministry has said that NAC does not need to take its approval for the auction as it is a sovereign organisation with authority to take decisions related to its welfare.
Earlier, when NAC auctioned the first Boeing 757 – 200 9N-ACA aircraft, it had not sought the ministry’s approval. Once the second Boeing is auctioned, NAC will have a fleet comprising 13 aircraft, of which two are chinese MA 60, four Y12E; two Airbus A320-200 narrow-body and two Airbus A330-200 wide-body and three Twin Otters. However, the Chinese aircraft are not in operation hitting the domestic share of the national flag carrier.
