Malaysia hikes visa fees by six times

Malaysia has hiked visa processing fees for Nepalis by six times from November 1.
Nepalis visiting Malaysia will now onwards have to pay Rs 4,200 – Rs 3,900 for visa processing and Rs 200 bank commission – that was Rs 700 earlier.
The new fees will hit the Nepali migrant workers, who have already been paying huge amount for the jobs in the Islamic nation.
Malaysia – the largest host to the Nepali migrant workers – has been employing around 650,000 in agriculture, plantation, industries and security services.
The migrant workers have to pay the added burden as the government has already fixed Rs 80,000 as a maximum recruitment charge to go to Malaysia, though the workers have been forced to pay more than the government-fixed rate.
