Tata Nexon becomes the first and only car to achieve a full ‘5 stars’ adult safety rating

Tata Motors’ most-loved subcompact crossover SUV, Tata Nexon has established a new benchmark in terms of car safety and has been awarded with a full 5 Stars safety ratings by the Global NCAP, a trusted name in automobile safety parameters and an internationally renowned safety accreditation body. Tata Nexon is the only car to be awarded 5-star rating in India.
The Nexon’s structural integrity and overall safety has been evaluated in Global NCAP crash test, according to a press note issued by the company. “The car has been tested for both front and side impacts.”
The combined evaluation of both the tests by Global NCAP have resulted in a full 5-stars rating, the highest adult occupant safety score of (16.06/17.00) amongst all the models tested across the Indian market, it reads.
Nexon is equipped with energy-absorbing body structure with high-strength steel construction and critical reinforcements. These effectively absorb the impact energy and provide a stable load-path for protecting the passenger compartment from deformation. Nexon comes equipped with features such as dual-frontal airbags and seatbelts with pre-tensioner and load-limiter among others, for driver and passengers’ safety.
Speaking about this new achievement by the Nexon Head – International Business, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors Sujan Roy said that the customers are increasingly rating safety as one of the topmost parameters while making a car purchase. “We are elated to receive the highest ever safety rating from Global NCAP, for the Nexon,” he sid, adding that the Global NCAP results are a reflection of our commitment towards keeping Safety as the first priority. “With these test results, the Nexon becomes the first car in India to achieve a full 5-star adult safety rating and emerges as India’s Safest Car, in terms of crash safety”.”
The Tata NEXON is a revolutionary design of ‘breaking the box’ with an aerodynamic silhouette. This enhances its sporty character and marks an evolution in SUV design by combining the functionality of an SUV with style of a sports coupe, it adds.
Tata Nexon is available in five variants – XE, XM, XT, XZ+ and XZA – and five colours – Vermont Red, Moroccan Blue, Seattle Silver, Glasgow Grey, and Calgary White – with a standard warranty of 75,000 km or 2 years, whichever is earlier.

TATA Trust, Sipradian Sahyata Sanstha handed the fourth reconstructed school

Minster for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Arun Nepal today inaugurated the newly reconstructed school building of Shree Marming Secondary School at Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-5 in Sindhupalchowk as part of ‘Nepal Earthquake Response programme’ by Sipradian Sahayata Sanstha in partnership with Tata Community Initiative Trust and Tata Trusts (India).
The school was reconstructed with the modern layout resistant to earthquakes and designed with disabled-friendly facilities, a press note – issued by Sipradi Trading – reads, adding that the April 2015 earthquake had badly damaged the school, destroying the classrooms, science lab and other facilities at school. “This well-furnished earthquake resistant school building is having 10 class rooms, gender friendly sanitation units, provision for computer lab, science lab, early child development rooms and other basic amenities would be able to cater the need of more than 250 students enrolled in this School.”
The school has been reconstructed with an investment of over Rs 27 million. “The reconstructed school building complies to the specification advocated for earthquake seismic zone 5 with modern layout,” it claims, adding that class rooms complying to the global standards with respect to safety, space per child, access to differently abled child.
On the occasion, principal of the school Dhurba Thapa talked about the difficulty the school faced in conducting classes after the building was destroyed during earthquake. He even stressed on the point of studying outside after the earthquake damaged the classrooms.
Tata Group in partnership with Siprradian is reconstructing 7 school building and one health post, out of which 4 has been handed over to the community. Likewise, director of the Sipradi Companies Shambhu Prasad Dahal, on the occasion, talked about relief and rehabilitation project carried out of Sipradian Sahayata Sanstha in different part of Nepal with partnership with Tata Companies.
Chief Operating Officer at Tata Chemicals Shahob Rais, director at Sipradi Companies Shambhu Prasad Dahal, deputy general manager at Community Service of Tata Sustainability Group Shrirang Dhavale were present at the event as special guests, according to the press note.
Likewise, mayor of Barhabise Municipality in Sindhupalchowk Nimfunjo Sherpa, vice chairman of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchowk Dabuti Sherpa, general manager at the Sipradi Trading Krishna Prasad Bartaula and area manager (Nepal) at Tata Trusts Tam Lal Pokharel were also present at the event, where more than 600 students and parents of Marming village also took part.

Business icon Prabhakar Rana passes away

A pioneer of Nepali tourism industry Prabhakar SJB Rana passed away while undergoing treatment in New York yesterday. Rana, 84, was admitted to the hospital one year ago.
Starting his career in the hotel industry, Rana built an empire with his honesty and moral in business. Engaged in multiple business including tourism, trade, automobiles, and hydropower, Rana believed in earning credibility and transparency in his business rather than making profits because ‘that’s what makes businesses successful’, according to him.
The first generation of Nepali entrepreneurs, chairman Emeritus of Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Rana was not only recognised for his initiative to bring an international hotel chain to Nepal but also for promoting tourism through hotel.
Rana was the founding chairperson of Soaltee Crowne Plaza and later on the chairman emeritus of the five-star hotel, though Soaltee was founded in 1966 by late prince Himalaya Bikram Shah and late princess Princep Rajya Laxmi. Rana later converted the hotel to a public limited company in 1975. Soaltee Crowne Plaza is one of the three hotels listed in the Nepal Sock Exchange (Nepse).
Until recently he was working on Soaltee Westend Hotel in Nepalgunj expanding the Soaltee brand outside the Kathmandu Valley.
Starting from the hotel industry, Rana expanded his business to travel and trekking, automobiles, tea garden and hydropower projects. He is also the founder president of Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal chapter.
Issuing press notes, both HAN and PATA said Rana could solely be credited for introducing international standards in the hospitality sector of the country.
Rana established Sipradi Trading – the authorised dealer of Tata Motors in Nepal – in 1982. In 1986, he invested in Surya Nepal, a multinational undertaking in joint partnership with firms of India and UK. Likewise, He started Bhotekoshi Power Company (BPC) – the first privately funded, run-of-the-river (ROR) power project in Nepal – in 1996.
Besides, he has also invested in Himalayan Tea Garden and Amravati Travels.
Rana was both professionally and personally close with late kings Mahendra and Birendra and in recent times with former king Gyanendra. But he never misused the power as usually is seen. He kept his freidship and professionalism separate though he was business partner of forme king Gyanendra.
He is survived by a son Siddhartha and a daughter Maya. Siddhartha Rana is currently looking after the entire business operations. The final rites of Rana will be performed in New York tomorrow.

King’s College to host province-level International Conference in Dhangadhi

King’s College announced the hosting of its third annual international conference on entrepreneurship, 'Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth in Federal Nepal' in Dhangadi of Sudur Paschim province.
While the conference to be held on November 22-24 is a continuation of its annual trend that began from 2016, it also marks the beginning of a new trend which is to organise a province-level international conference to foster the dialogue and stir actions in entrepreneurship ecosystem of all provinces.
"With the country adopting the federal model, we believe the spirit of entrepreneurship should not limit to Kathmandu but the equal share of cake should be tasted by the people across the nation,” informs principal of King’s College Narottam Aryal.
According to him, the major objectives of the conference is to assess, question and to understand the entrepreneurship agenda put forward by the country in the federal states, globally and nationally, look for its sustainability and seek its contribution to economic development.
“As an academic institute, we, therefore, want to provide an informed global platform to debate, build on good practice and seek novel solutions to flourish entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country and thus contribute to economic growth,” he adds.
As Nepal prepares to decentralise country’s policies and programmes from formerly centralised government to the state and local levels, King’s College feels need to host an evidence-based conference in Nepal in order to support all stakeholders involved in the process of current transition, according to the conference coordinator Chittaranjan Pandey.
He further informed that the conference aims at touching upon some of the key issues that are crucial for driving entrepreneurial initiatives under Nepal’s decentralised economy. The sub-themes of the conference includes Federal, Provincial and Local Policies; Social Entrepreneurship; Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Private Sector and Entrepreneurship, and Vision 2030, SDGs and Entrepreneurship.
Issuing a press release, the College also informed that the conference will include plenary and parallel sessions, presentations and discussions of academic research, policy driven and reflective practitioner-oriented papers, networking opportunities for the future, showcase of entrepreneurial ventures, social interactions and awards for two best papers, including others.
The College has collaborated with Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city to host the conference which is being held in support of Sudur Paschim Provincal Government. The three-day long event will also feature five noted international speakers – Prof Satyajit Majumdar and Dr Samapti Guha from TATA Institute of Social Science and Ulla-Maija Seppanen, Janne Karjalainen and Kimmo Paajanen from OAMK Labs Finaland (Oulu University of Applied Sciences)
King’s College had in 2016 hosted its first international conference – entitled, 'International Conference on Social Entrepreneurship', which was followed by the similar conference, '16th International Entrepreneurship Forum' in 2017 – in a bid to encourage dialogue on entrepreneurship and hold government responsible for policy change.

Tata Nano comes to Nepal, officially

Tata Motors launched the much-awaited Tata Nano officially in Nepal from today with an introductory price of Rs 798,000 for the standard model.
One can book standard model of Nano at Rs 10,000 and get financing facility too. For those who wish to buy on installment, it will come to an Equated Monthly Installments (EMI) of Rs 11,111. The company is also opening bookings for Nano CX and Nano LX at Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.

Nano comes to Nepal

Tata Motors is all set to launch Tata Nano -- dubbed as the cheapest car in the world -- in Nepal within a month.
"We will be launching the car in to the market very soon," chairman for Sipradi Siddhartha SJB Rana after flagging off 'Nano Yatra Nepal' here today.
"This is a historic day for us to be flagging off the iconic car in Nepal today," he said, adding that 'Nano Yatra Nepal' will take the cars to some 40,000 km across the country in thirty-five days to prove its durability and efficiency as well as promoting it in the Nepali market.
"Today's flag off is just a prelude to show the car to the people so that they can see it before purchasing it," added Rana.
Sipradi Trading -- the authorised dealer for Tata Motors India -- flagged off two Nano cars to go the length and breadth of the country to promote and prove the practical use of the vehicle for the Nepali market.
The dealers claimed that the car -- that is known for its durability and reliability -- will prove its buyers its strength in next thirty five days.
There is much speculation over the price of the car as the car costs a little over IRs 100,000 in the Indian market while the cost of the Nano for the Nepali market has not been revealed. But according to the sources, due to the heavy excise duty and taxes, it could cost somewhere above Rs 700,000.
Tata Motors in India began selling its 'one-lakh car' from 2008. The cheapest car in the world today, though the price continues to rise due to increasing material costs, is approximately 10 feet long and 5 feet wide.
Nepal will be Nano’s second international market after it launched in Sri Lank last Friday.
