Bahrain Air to fly to Kathmandu

Bahrain Air — the national carrier of Bahrain — is to fly twice weekly — on Fridays and Sundays — to Kathmandu from September 14.

"We have received several requests from customers from around our network regarding flights between Bahrain and Kathmandu," said chief executive officer of Bahrain Air Richard Nuttall, adding that the company is delighted to announce two weekly flights from Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) to Bahrain International Airport. "Onwards, passengers can connect to their favourite destinations."

Kathmandu will remain an essential part of Bahrain Air’s network, being the fifth city the airline currently operates to in the Indian subcontinent with further expansion sought subject to receiving government’s approval.

"Maintaining our slogan 'Affordable Fare, Genuine Care’, customers will be offered the best value for money for travel to Bahrain from the region," he said.

Bahrain Air resumes Kathmandu flights daily from September 21

Bahrain Air will resume its flights to Kathmandu with daily operation from September 21.
Flights from Bahrain will leave after midnight and arrive in Katmandu in the early morning, said the airlines.
"From Katmandu, the departure time will also be in the morning. The departure times are designed to arrive in Katmandu early morning to facilitate same day onward travel into Nepal for residents and tourists alike, director Commercial Operations of Bahrain Air said, adding that Bahrain Air is delighted to be returning to Katmandu after a brief hiatus.
Katmandu is and will remain a core part of Bahrain Air’s network, and we look forward to boosting direct connections between Nepal and Bahrain, he added. "It is the start of a new period of growth for Bahrain Air that will include resumption of old routes, some new destinations, and agreements with other carriers to boost our network still further.
"Bahrain Air is the Kingdom of Bahrain’s second national carrier which currently operates to more than 20 destinations from Bahrain using its brand new A320 and A319 aircraft, offering both Business Premium Class and Economy Class, free baggage allowances and complimentary meals.
It plays a major role in linking Bahrain — the financial center of the Middle East — to major cities in the GCC, the Levant, Africa and the Indian Sub-Continent, with fast and economical point-to-point services, for both the business community and the travelling public.
Earlier, Bahrain Air had launched three flights weekly, making Kathmandu the 17th destination on its network in 2009 March. Kathmandu was also the third city Bahrain Air had been operating in the Asian region.

Baharain Air's maiden flight lands in Kathmandu

Bahrain Air -- the second airlines that has started flying on the Kathmandu- Baharain route -- landed at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) here this morning.
Airlines managing director Ibrahim Abdulla Al Hamr said the airlines will strengthen economic ties between Nepal and Bahrain. "It has established itself as a brand in the competitive Gulf-Asia sector in a comparatively short time," he added.
Gulf Air is already flying on this route that is considered lucrative due to Nepali migrant workers' inflow and outflow in the Gulf nations. Bahrain Air is eyeing the market pie that Gulf Air has been monopolising.
Bahrain is also a transit point for Nepali and foreign tourists to and from Kathmandu apart from the crowd of blue-collar Nepali workers.
With the country's tourism industry bouncing back and massive increase in number of Nepalis going abroad, more and more foreign airline companies are seeking an opportunity to operate flights to Nepal.

Silk Air celebrates 20th anniversary
KATHMANDU: Silk Air -- the regional airlines of Singapore Airlines -- celebrated its 20th anniversary in the capital on Monday. The airlines is planning to again increase its flight frequency from the current three flights a week. Earlier, it had six flights on the Kathmandu-Singapore route. "But due to off-season, the airlines reduced the frequency of flights," said Silk Air's Nepal manager Joshua Ganesan.
