Anyone outdoors without a mask will be arrested

The government has come strict with the careless people out on the road without mask. It has directed the police to apprehend anyone, who steps out in public without a mask.
The Home Ministry – issuing a directive today – ordered the law enforcement authorities to nab anyone who goes out of house without a mask. Going out of house sans mask will be treated as an offense as per the Infectious Diseases Act, 1964, the Home Ministry directives reads, adding that the people have not been adhering to the rules following the easing of nationwide lockdown since mid-June. “The decision has to be taken to contain the spread of Covid-19 cases, which have only increased in the last couple of weeks because people are not honestly following the rules.”
As the cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) has been increasing at an alarming rate, the Home Ministry has also directed local administrations across the country to take action against those, who do not wear masks outside their homes.
Physical distancing measures are also not being taken seriously, people are seen moving around without masks. The Ministry of Health and Population has also asked the public – during its daily media briefing today – to comply with the safety protocols earlier set by the ministry.
The ministry – in a circular – directed local administrations of all 77 districts and the Nepal Police Headquarters to take action against those not wearing masks outside their homes in order to contain possible spread of Covid-19, in line with the provisions of Infectious Disease Act, 2020, BS.
A person, who violates this act or disregards any order issued by the government as per this Act is liable to punishment of imprisonment for a term not exceeding one month or a fine not exceeding Rs 100, or both.
In mid-June, the government has started relaxing the nationwide lockdown after nearly three months as the traders and other entrepreneurs started to protest the absolute lockdown which had halted all economic activities.
The government has issued a series of health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus after easing the lockdown. The lockdown restrictions were lifted for private vehicles on the condition that they operate on odd-even number basis corresponding with the Nepali date.
