Billionairs gather in Kathmandu for a big, fat wedding



Forbes billionaires and some high profile Indian politicos gathered in Kathmandu to attend a big fat wedding of Hotel Yak and Yeti owner Radheshyam Sharraf's granddaughter Natisha.
Natisha Sharraf is being married to Karan Sarabagi, a son of Indian businessman Bibek Sarabagi, on Thursday, though the marriage ceremony has started yesterday.
The Forbes billionaires including steel magnate Laxmi Mittal (networth $16 billion), Ruia family (networth $5.5 billion), and Vedanta Resources founder chairman Anil Agrawal (networth $3 billion); apart from politicias including Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, irrigation minister Shivpal Singh Yadav have arrived in some 10 chartered planes, including two Boeings.
Three chartered aircraft landed at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) today with the guest whereas some arrived yesterday and others day before yesterday, according to the airport authority.
The high profile guests have been flown into Kathmandu in chartered aircraft, the authority said, adding that the guests have, though cited personal reason for visit, listed Hotel Hyatta as the address in Kathmandu.
Hotel Hyatt is the five-star property in the Kathmandu that has been chosen as the marriage venue.
Of the 10 aircraft, seven returned today, whereas remaining will fly back tomorrow.
The long list who is who from India and Nepal including former king Gyanendra, prime minister Sushil Koirala, editors and senior politicians have been invited for tomorrow evening's party.
Some 35 master chefs have also been brought from India to prepare international cuisine for the high profile guests. The flower garlands worth above Rs 10 million have been brought from India and Holland to decorate the the big fat weeding spot.
