Turkish Airlines to start direct flight on Kathmandu-Istanbul route from September 1

Turkish Airlines is finally scheduled to start direct flights on Kathmandu-Istanbul route from September 1 as the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation today issued flight operation authorisation certificate to Turkish Airlines to operate directs flights.
The airlines that had been planning to start direct flight to Kathmandu linking the Europe since last couple of years has been issued a the flight operation authorisation certificate by secretary-level decision today.

The Kathmandu-Istanbul flight will be the longest non-stop commercial flight taking seven hours and 30 minutes

There has been no scheduled direct flight between Kathmandu and Europe since Austrian Airlines stopped to fly to Kathmandu on May 17, 2007.
The world’s fourth biggest carrier in terms of destinations, Turkish Airlines, currently, flies to 223 destinations in 99 countries and plans to add 30 more destinations by 2013.
Nepal and Turkey had signed an air service agreement (ASA) in September 2010 allowing to operate 14 flights a week between Kathmandu and Istanbul.
Turkish Airlines will operate four weekly flights on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays using wide-body Airbus A330-200 aircraft, according to the airlines.
