A business delegation, currently
visiting Dhaka for exploring business potential, has proposed to Bangladesh for
duty-free import of agricultural products from Nepal.
The 26-member delegation led by
president of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries Ashok Kumar Temani
while discussing with Bangladeshi commerce minister GM Quader at his
secretariat today asked Bangladesh to allow Nepal to use two prime sea ports at
Mongla and Chittagong, which is expected to expand and strengthen the trading
relations between the two South Asian countries.
Business representatives of the
two countries also held a meeting where they discussed on various problems and
potential in trade between Nepal and Bangladesh.
They also urged for a solution to
the existing complexities in export and import between the two countries.
"Bangladesh has had good
trade relations with Nepal for a long period of time," said Quader, adding
that the governments of both the countries are working to resolve the problems.
"It's possible to resolve the problems within a short period of time and
it will help further expand trade between the two nations."
The team will return to Kathmandu
tomorrow from their five-day visit.
