Dragon Air increases frequency to Kathmandu

Dragonair — the sister airline of Cathay Pacific — will increase its flight frequency between Kathmandu and Hong Kong from September 1, with a daily flight.

"With a daily flight we will again offer better convenience for Nepali passengers travelling to and from Hong Kong, as well as to other destinations in China, Japan, Australia, America, Canada, Korea and many more locations worldwide," said Dragonair manager for Nepal Thomas Bellamy.

"The flight will continue to be operated through an A330 aircraft which offers a comfortable flying experience and a spacious business class cabin for passengers," he said, adding that there are 30 business class seats and 270 economy class seats on Dragonair A330-300 aircraft.

Kathmandu is an important and growing market for Dragonair, which has operated flights to the city since December 2007, said Bellamy. Dragonair is an affiliate member of oneworld, and is a Hong Kong-based airline operating a fleet of 35 passenger aircraft serving 39 regional destinations, including 19 cities in mainland China.

Since April, Dragonair has launched or resumed services to Xi’an, Guilin, Jeju, Taichung, Clark in the Philippines and Chiang Mai, and a daily service to Haikou will resume on 28 October. Kolkata will be the eighth destination added to the airline’s network this year.

In addition, its sister airline, Cathay Pacific, recently won the 2012 Skytrax 'World’s Best Business Class' award. For this award 18 million airline passengers from across the world picked their choices.
