After a huge pressure, only three casinos -- Of the total 10 casinos operating in the country -- paid their dues.
Casino Venus at the Malla Hotel, Casino Rad at the Radisson Hotel and Pokhara Grande paid their dues but Casino Nepal, Shangrila and Anna Casinos have not yet paid their dues.
Smilarly, only seven casino managers showed up at the office of Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) that had asked the managers to submit their statement and settle the liability.
Though, Casino Nepal informed that its senior official is out of the town and will contact as soon as he returns, the other two defied the Department of Revenue Investigation notice to settle their outstanding liability.
Mahesh Dahal, DG at the DRI said the department will take action against the three indifferent casinos on Thursday.
The department had issued letters to all the 10 casinos operating in the country to submit their outstanding tax liability -- including royalty, tax deducted at source and fines -- as of mid-July 2010 and pay the dues immediately.
Out of the remaining seven, three -- Casino Venus (Malla Hotel), Rad (Radisson) and Pokhara Grande -- settled all their outstanding dues as of last fiscal year, whereas two casinos -- Royal (Yak and Yeti) and Fulbari -- paid Rs 5.5 million and Rs 5 million respectively, a small installment of their total liability. Similarly, Venus paid Rs 4.3 million, Rad and Pokhara Grande paid Rs 8.6 million and Rs 4.76 million respectively.
"Casino Tara at the Hotel Hyatt and casino Everest have promised to settle their dues immediately," he added.
